1. Mai obris un llibre amb l temps.
2. Evita els pròlegs.
3. No utilitzis mai un verb que no sigui "va dir" per dur a terme un diàleg.
4. No facis servir mai un adverbi per modificar el verb "va dir"... va advertir greument.
5. Mantingueu els signes d'exclamació sota control. No se'n permeten més de dos o tres per cada 100.000 paraules de prosa.
6. No utilitzis mai les paraules "de sobte" o "es va desfermar l'infern".
7. Feu servir el dialecte regional amb moderació.
8. Evitar descripcions detallades dels personatges.
9. No entreu en grans detalls descrivint llocs i coses.
10. Intenta ometre la part que els lectors acostumen ometre.
